Was definitely nerve-racking... I was very nervous and out of my element, like a fish out of water. Anyway, yesterday Becky told me to go to the pharmacy and see if I could help out. It was definitely different and it kept me on my toes. I have no medical experience whatsoever, so when people came up to the pharmacy asking what medications to take, I would have to refer them to the pharmacist instead. I think I was more trouble than I was help; I was clumsy, I did not know how to work the drive-through machinery, and asking people to tell me their last names and Birthday was rather hard when trying to remember 10 million different things. Not to mention, I dropped one of the medications and all the pills dropped to the floor. It was my first time ever working at a pharmacy and I think the hardest part was the drive-through when one woman wanted to order to medications that were almost like 24 letter words.

Try pronouncing prescription pills that you have never heard of before, but sounds and looks like ancient Latin language. Anyway, I did the best I could and eventually they sent me back to the front. I have to say that I've never been so happy to work at the register in all my life, at least it's something I can do right, knowing me I'm a perfectionist and I always have to get it right the first time. If not, I do it over and over and over again until I get right, which is why the pill counting took so long. I had to count the pills in fives, which wasn't too bad when you start with the smaller pill counts... but the 180 pill counts were a complete drag. Not only did I have to make sure every count was five, I had to make sure it matched 180 quantity. It sounds easy, but it's not... especially, when you're counting tiny pills no bigger than your pinky finger and matching them in groups of five.

Anyway, I think I found an easier way to count the pills without going 5, 10, 15, 20 etc. etc. also, instead of asking people for their last name, I'll just ask them if I could see their drivers license. This one old guy got upset because I couldn't understand what he was saying, but he mumbled out his name and I thought he said his last name was Whicker and then Michelle asked him (because they couldn't find him in the system) he said his name was Winters and then he told her that I wasn't paying attention. Hello, can't you tell I'm a new? I'm trying to figure out how the computer works and this guy is yelling at me for trying to help him. Oh well... there was a nice lady who pretty much made it worth it, since I was reaching frustration point and about to give up. I had no training whatsoever, so all medical questions and insurance questions go to Michelle or the pharmacist... which is probably why it was taking so long to help people because if I had knew beforehand than I would probably be able to do them without asking 500 million different questions first. Working at the pharmacy was an experience... I just hope I can do better next time without being so clumsy and nervous. It was something new, that's for sure.
